Thank you for choosing Alpenglow Veterinary Specialty + Emergency Center (AVSEC)! Services at our state-of-the-art facility include emergency and critical care, cardiology, surgery and internal medicine. We accept emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
While referrals for specialty cases are not required, we do recommend that you first visit your family veterinarian in order to receive initial guidance.
Here’s what you need to know before coming in for your first visit:
• Please download and fill out our client intake form.
• Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment for check-in.
• Please bring any relevant blood work, x-rays, and information regarding your pet’s diet and medicines. |

All Specialty Services
When possible, all involved parties should be present at the initial consult to hear all pertinent information regarding your pet. The consultation is the ideal time to ask questions to help you make the best decision possible.
Once you are checked in, the surgical intern (for surgical cases) and a veterinary nurse will meet with you to review your pet’s history, perform a physical exam, and assess the problem. Additional diagnostic tests may be necessary. For surgical cases, an intern may start the case; however, the surgeon on your pet’s case will also discuss findings and perform an exam.
After the initial assessment, our specialists will consult with your family veterinarian where necessary and appropriate, if they have not done so already, to help determine whether additional action is necessary to treat your pet.
Based on the recommended treatment plan, a cost estimate will be provided before further services are rendered.
After discussing the options with you and your family veterinarian, together a plan of treatment is decided upon for you and your pet.

Emergency Services
In the case of emergency, if your family veterinarian is unavailable, please contact us immediately. Please refer to the list of symptoms that require immediate emergency attention.
When faced with a veterinary emergency, call ahead to the office with the animal’s breed (or approximate size), age, present symptoms and any other health problems. While on the phone, confirm the exact location of the hospital.
Upon arrival, your pet will be assessed for injuries first by a nurse and then by a doctor. A nurse will prepare a cost estimate for you to review and approve before treatment is rendered.
