Betsy Caskey, ER Charge Nurse

Betsy attended Michigan State University and Northern Michigan University where she graduated in 2002 with a degree in environmental conservation and biology. Upon graduation, she moved to Lexington, KY and worked in the thoroughbred racing industry both as a farmhand and sales coordinator for mare and yearling sales. After a year-and-a-half Betsy moved back to Michigan and began working at a large referral/emergency hospital while attending school to earn her associate degree in veterinary technology.

She started in the emergency and critical care department and fell in love with the fast-paced environment and taking care of extremely critical patients. After four years in the emergency department, she took a position as an interdisciplinary technician. That position allowed Betsy to spend time in each of the specialty departments, which better enriched her skills and helped make her a well-rounded technician. Betsy was also on the board of a charitable foundation where she was responsible for planning events in order to raise funds for emergency veterinary medical treatment.

Betsy has two dogs, a 5-year-old lab/chow mix and a 2-year-old lab; both were stray rescue animals who had broken legs. She joined the team at Alpenglow in October.
